There are a lot of health tips out there that suggest drinking water that is infused with all kinds of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. They can improve your health and even help you lose weight. Believe it or not, this is true and if you do it on a regular basis the progress on your body is just excellent.

What is Water Detoxification?

Before anything else, you first need to know about the basics. So what is detox water? As the name suggests, this is the process of adding flavors of fresh fruits to a normal pitcher or glass of water.

This is very easy to make, and you can add just about any kind of fruit to your water.

In fact, not just fruits but you can also add healthy herbs and vegetables that you like.  Instead of using the traditional method of juicing or blending, just infusing your water with different flavors contain low calories, which makes it a popular drink for those who want to lose weight quickly. It’s a great way to avoid soda.

One of the most popular detox waters made is the lemon detox. This method is for weight loss and often used as a replacement for high sugar drinks like fruit juice or even soda.  You’ll find that drinking a glass of this at least once or twice in a day consistently will give you the feeling of heaviness, which in turn causes you to avoid cravings.

Health Benefits of Detox Water         

There are a lot of detailed health benefits you can gain from drinking detox water. Take a look at these:

  • Detox water helps with weight loss – Drinking water helps you lose weight, and it’s the same thing with detox water as well. Water raises your metabolic rate temporarily, which helps you burn more calories. In fact, people who drink a steady amount of water each day tend to burn more calories as compared to those people who do not drink water on a regular basis. Detox water also helps reduce hunger as well, so if you drink a full glass of water before a meal, then you may end up eating much less compared to normal.
  • Detox water can help improve your mood and energy level – have you noticed how much it affects your mood when you start to feel dehydrated? When you do not drink enough water your concentration and energy levels go down, so it can also reduce your mood and can cause frequent headaches. Drinking detox water regularly can help improve your mood and even make you more productive in day and improve your energy.
  • Can help your digestive health – Staying hydrated is very important if you want to improve your health. Hydration is also important for your digestive health, because water helps regulate your bowel movements. If you do not drink enough water, it can cause constipation, which can make you feel sluggish or bloated.  Drinking water frequently can help the food pass smoothly through your body and prevent you from getting constipated.

How to make Detox Water?

Making detox water is not hard at all. All you need is a pitcher of water and a selection of herbs, fruits and/or vegetables. Simply chop up your ingredients into sections and add them to either hot or cold water, depending on your preference.

The more of these fruits you use, the stronger your water will taste. If you are going with a cold drink, you can leave the detox water inside your refrigerator for about 1 to 12 hours so that all the flavors will be more prominent in the drink. Make sure, however, that you take out the ingredients after so that they do not decompose.

Here are some popular combinations that you should try out:

  • Lemon and ginger
  • Blackberry and orange
  • Cucumber and mint
  • Grapefruit and rosemary
  • Strawberry and basil
  • Apple and cinnamon
  • Lemon and lime
  • Watermelon and mint
  • Lemon and cayenne pepper

You can experiment with this as much as you can to see what fits your taste the most, but everything will give you the same health benefits.
